TUCKER: Hawaii Pet’s 2012 Summer Cover Model

We have been Tucker fans for many years and are honored to have him on the cover of Hawaii Pet!
Tucker is a 6 year old Golden Retriever with an amazing job — he works full-time as an assisted therapy dog at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children with his pet parent Dr. Wendi Hirsch, child psychologist.
Born in Canyonleigh, New South Wales, Australia, Tucker moved to Maui as a puppy and completed over a year of training at Hawaii Canines for Independence, a charitable organization that provides people with physical disabilities specially trained dogs that will give them the freedom and confidence to live more independent lives.
Now residing in Honolulu, Tucker makes regular visits to children at Kapiolani’s chemotherapy center and in their hospital rooms.
Tucker’s happy spirit and calm demeanor have an instant calming effect on everyone he meets, helping patients benefit physically and emotionally from their interactions with him.
Isle Discount, Hawaii’s hottest new discount solution, is featuring Tucker on their IDcard as a fundraiser for Hawaii Canines for Independence. For every Tucker card you purchase, a portion of the proceeds will go to Hawaii Canines for Independence. A great way to receive amazing discounts at restaurants and activities while also supporting a great cause. To learn more about the card, visit islediscount.com. Also visit hawaiicanines.com to learn more about their therapy programs.
